Project ATLAS
In 2027 DR Sarah Ruggins will attempt to ride around the world in 75 days
If successful she’ll extend her record as one of the only women in history to hold multiple outright world records.
Sarah’s story
Growing up, Sarah was a promising track star, with aspirations of joining Team Canada as an Olympic hopeful.
But aged 15, she developed an autoimmune condition known as one of the world’s most painful diseases, so painful it ended her running career.
She lost the ability to walk, to use her hands or move. She was transferred abroad for urgent 24/7 care and would spend years fighting to recover.
“We must always keep going”
The record
This record is for the fastest cycle around the world.
Starting and finishing in Halifax, Canada, Sarah must ride ~30,000km in less than 78 days.
She must reach two antipodal points (opposite sides of the planet) during her ride, and the clock never stops even during her transfers between continents.
